Aspire Revo PC Review
This is another choice in the world of mini-PCs. These PCs are meant for the people who want something more than a portable Netbook and less then the super-fast tower PC. None of these machines are meant for the gamers or power users who need to run multiple programs for work.
The ports or on the back, top and front of the machine, so if you are connecting it to a network as a server, it may not be the most attractive piece. But it has a decent amount of memory at 2GB so it is fast enough to run 1080p HD video files well. You can easily upgrade the memory to 4GB. The 160GB hard drive provides enough space to use it for an interface in a network or media setup.
This machine has 5 USB ports, one in the front and 4 in the back. It also has 2 video ports, VGA and HDMI, and 2 audio ports. There is an eSATA port if you want to connect an external HD for data. There is a card reader on the front which can handle multimedia card and xD picture cards among others.
If you want to connect it to a network via wireless you will need to install a wireless card as this is not included in the Aspire Revo. There is one expansion slot available for this. You can also use a USB wireless adaptor to connect.
The Aspire Revo comes with Windows XP Home installed and can still perform if you upgrade to XP Professional. It also ships with a miniaturized USB mouse and keyboard if you are planning on using it to surf the web, watch video or check email.
Compared to other mini-PCs on the market, this does slightly better with HDMI video and speed. The other useful feature is the large number of ports which makes it popular as a unit you hook up to a media or network setup. The port set up may make it less attractive if is sitting on your desk.
The unit comes with a stand that most reviewers felt was too flimsy. You can also place the unit on its side if you don’t use the stand.
For a PC that costs about $300.00, this performs well. It is suitable as a server or second PC and the price and speed reflect that.

Eee PC Box Review
As technology improves, it tends to get smaller. This is what has happened to the PC and the EEE PC Box is an excellent example. This PC has an 80 GB hard drive, 1 GB of RAM but is small enough to attach to the back of a flat screen monitor. It is only 9 inches wide and 7 inches long, about the size of photograph. The unit also comes with a stand if you do not want to attach it to your monitor.
The EEE PC Box is ready to connect wirelessly to your existing network. It comes equipped with WiFi 802.11 which can be up to 6 times faster than previous WiFi systems. The EEE PC Box has 4 USB ports to connect your monitor, mouse and keyboard.
One of the “E” in EEE PC stands for environmentally conscious. Because of the small size, this unit does not require the same amount of power as a tower unit and can consume up to 6 times less power than a traditional PC. Another way the EEE PC Box has less impact on the environment is its manufacture. It is manufactured with green materials. It also reduces noise pollution This unit makes only 26db of sound, it is quieter than a whisper.
This is a mini-PC which means there are some things it does not have. There is no CD or DVD drive so any accessories would need to be connected using one of the 4 USB ports. It is not suitable for games or software which requires 3D graphics or super fast processing speed. This would be a good choice if you want to keep a PC in your kitchen to surf the web or get your email. Since it can be mounted on the back of a monitor, it does not require any counter space.
The cost is anywhere from $250.00 to $325.00. Again, this makes is useful as a second (or third) PC to have in a corner of the kitchen for email and quickly surfing the web. The EEE PC occupies that niche between the Netbook, which some people find too small and the tower, which some people find too daunting.
There are various models:
